mental illness

Last Sunday I preached on mental illness.  Or rather I preached on Daniel 4, but Daniel 4 is about mental illness.  Ever since, I've been getting phone calls from people who have struggled with the issue themselves, or had a family member with mental illness, but who had never reflected on it in a church context.  I don't have answers, of course; but at least we can acknowledge that it's out there, that christians are not exempt, and that the church ought not to be looking the other way.  If God could take Nebuchadnezzar seriously, even after all he's done to the people of God, I don't think he minimises what anyone's going through today, either.

Well said. We had a sermon at our church on Daniel 4 a few months ago, and it turned out to be an invitation to personal evangelism to influential people. No mention of mental illness at all - mustn't make anyone feel squeamish in chuch!
